Dave began his flying journey in 1978 as a glider pilot, earning his first instructor rating in 1979. He graduated from the USAF Academy in 1981 with a Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering. He was honored to serve in the US Air Force for 26 years; 20 years as an F-16 instructor pilot, evaluator (examiner), mission commander and squadron commander, flying world-wide including two combat tours. During his Air Force career, Dave completed two Master’s Degrees.
Dave continued his professional flying career as an airline pilot at JetBlue Airways and retired after 15 years (10 years as a Captain on the E-190 and A-320/321). He is type-rated in the B-737, E-190, and A-320/321.
Through his professional flying career, Dave has stayed active in general aviation as a CFI/CFII and aircraft owner, instructing both Part 61 and 141 in Alabama, Virginia, Texas and Colorado. He is an active member of organizations that support general aviation including AOPA, EAA, and NAFI (National Association of Flight Instructors).
He is a home flight simulator enthusiast and has integrated home flight simulator technology into flight instruction for over 15 years.
