Flight Training Security Program Breakdown

What is the Flight Training Security Program?

The Flight Training Security Program (FTSP) is a program established by the Transportation Security Administration for non-U.S Citizens to conduct flight training in the United States. Non-U.S Citizens must be approved before Private Pilot Training, Instrument Training, or Multi-Engine Training.

Where do I apply to start Flight Training?

Visit www.fts.tsa.dhs.gov to set up an account.

  • The Security Threat Assessment (STA) can take up to 30 days to process

  • Once you receive your ‘Determination of Eligibility”, select “Beverly Flight Center” as your Provider

  • Once you receive an email saying “Your flight training provider has notified FTSP that the following flight training event has been scheduled for you”, you may begin flight training

  • Beverly Flight Center will need to take a photo of you once you start your training, and we will also need a copy of the same documents you uploaded to the FTSP portal to verify your identity

  • Your Security Threat Assessment is valid for 5 years, or until your eligibility expires (For example, your eligibility will expire if your Passport or VISA expires, that’s why it is important to upload your current documents in the FTSP portal)
